Marcopolo, a global reference in bus body manufacturing and development of mobility solutions, announces a strategic partnership with Volvo Buses for the commercialization of complete buses in the French and Italian markets.
This initiative represents a decisive step in Marcopolo’s commercial establishment in Europe, with products adapted to local standards and requirements. Under the agreement, Marcopolo will manufacture an European version of the Paradiso G8 1200 coach model, based on the Volvo Buses B13R chassis, in 4x2 and 6x2 configurations, with variations tailored to the needs of local operators. Volvo Buses will act as a main contractor ensuring sales and aftersales support of the complete vehicles, in both markets, based on the Volvo Bus and Trucks repair network.
“The partnership with Volvo Buses is fully aligned with our strategy for the European market. We have identified a concrete opportunity to offer customized solutions, with a product developed to meet the specific demands of France and Italy”, commented André Armaganijan, CEO of Marcopolo.
Paradiso G8 1200: technology, safety and comfort with global standards
The Paradiso G8 1200 developed for the European market highlights Marcopolo’s expertise in adapting its coach bodies to the technical and operational requirements of diverse international markets. Since the launch of Generation 8, more than 5,000 units have been produced, of which approximately 1,500 were destined for export markets, consolidating the line as a global mobility platform.
The model, currently undergoing homologation for operation in European countries, complies with stringent standards of quality, safety and comfort, in accordance with local regulations, including those related to vehicle cybersecurity. The first deliveries are expected to take place by the end of 2026.
International Expansion
Generation 8 was developed to meet global transportation demands in line with the highest standards of quality, safety, comfort, sustainability, durability and operational efficiency. Currently, Marcopolo’s coach models are produced at its manufacturing units in Brazil, China, Colombia and Mexico.
Over the past two years, Marcopolo has conducted an in-depth analysis of the European market, considered one of the most demanding in the world in terms of safety, reliability and energy efficiency.
The company has already initiated testing and validation processes to obtain homologation for the coach model in Europe. The model meets a wide range of technical requirements, with particular emphasis on cybersecurity, flammability, and surface treatments. With 11 factories in seven countries, Marcopolo possesses the expertise required to deliver internationally competitive products adapted to the legislation and specific needs of each market.
In addition to Brazil, Generation 8 coach models are already operating in countries across the South America such as Peru, Chile and Uruguay; in Africa, with deliveries to South Africa, and Ivory Coast; and in Asia, notably in UAE and Qatar. The recent presentation in Australia marks the official entry of Generation 8 into Oceania, reinforcing Marcopolo’s international vocation and consolidating the brand’s global presence.
